Research in our group is centered on the development of catalysts to address unsolved challenges in synthetic methodology and organic synthesis. Current research programs in our laboratory include: 1) the development of next generation catalysts for the hydroacylation of alkenes; 2) the development of new approaches to utilize the unique reactivity of metal-arene complexes in catalytic reactions; 3) the development of metal-catalyzed prenylation and 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions to access complex indole architectures; and 4) the development of strategies to combine the metal substitution and directed evolution approaches to artificial metalloenzyme catalysis.
